Valentines Day Makeup Menu

Valentines Day Makeup Menu.jpg

V-day is coming up soon and of course I must take advantage of this romantic day to amp up my makeup menu! I have recently ordered some Pony Makeup all the way from Korea and this shall be the perfect time to test these beauties out! If you’re not familiar with Pony, she is an amazingly beautiful Korean makeup artist. She has a blog (in Korean…) and a YouTube channel (https://goo.gl/fkVxx0) where she does professional makeup tutorials that are beyond any YouTube guru I have ever seen. She created her own makeup line in collaboration with Memebox and I had been dying to get my hands on some for ages. I can talk more about how I purchase Korean beauty products from the UK in another post if anyone is interested. Please do let me know!

Pixi Glowtion Day Dew £24.jpg

Pixi Glowtion Day Dew £24

This brightening lotion from Pixi is something I have been trying out for a few weeks now. It can be used to soothe, blur imperfections and illuminate the skin. I use it as a primer and additional moisturizer to prep my skin for foundation. I can also mix it into a foundation to lighten the shade (since I always seem to under estimate my light skin tone). The Glowtion gives my skin such a natural glow. I sometimes even wear it alone with no makeup just for a healthier skin look.

Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light to Medium Bisque.jpg

Bobbi Brown Corrector in Light to Medium Bisque £19

As usual, my Bobbi Brown corrector starts my foundation routine. I apply it using a ring finger like I would an eye cream, tapping gently around my undereye area. The salmon tone of the corrector really helps to counteract my dark circles and makes me look more awake.

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in Vanilla £29.jpg

Too Faced Born This Way Foundation in Vanilla £29

I don’t usually wear foundations on a day-to-day basis. However, for my Valentines date I chose this one from Too Faced as it gives medium to full coverage whilst feeling very light. It is exactly like how it’s named – a foundation that makes you look like you were just ‘born this way’! I love it for days when I want a fuller coverage but still want to feel like I’m not wearing too much makeup.

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in Med-light £17.50.jpg

Urban Decay Naked Skin Concealer in Med-light £17.50

For blemishes and scars on my face, I use this concealer form Urban Decay. It has a rather runny texture that can be built up to cover imperfections. The colour is a bit too dark for under the eye, s0 I like to use it solely for blemishes.

The Saem Cover Perfection Concealer in lightest shade.jpg

The Saem Cover Perfection Concealer in lightest shade

To highlight my under eye area, forehead area and around my nose and mouth, I use the Saem concealer. This is one of my first ever concealers and has been a holy grail for years. I must have gone through 3 tubes of this and already have a backup ready. It is quite hard to get a hold of in the UK so I always buy it whenever somebody visits Korea or Asia.

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light £38.jpg

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Diffused Light £38

This famous powder is one of the most expensive powders I own and was a major investment. After trying this shade in the Ambient Light Editing Palette, I fell in love and knew I needed the full size one. I like to save it for special events or dates when I will take many photographs. It gives a very natural luminous glow without being a highlighter. It also sets my under eye concealer whilst brightening the area. I just can’t rave enough about this powder!

Kate Designing Eyebrow Kit in EX-4

Whenever I can, I like to spend some time perfecting my brows with eyebrow powders. This one from Kate has 3 different shades from where I can mix and match from depending on my hair colour (which changes quite often). It comes with a dual-ended brush, though I like to use my other eyebrow brushes. I also use the lighter colour to contour my non-existent nose bridge.

Benefit Gimme Brow Gel in Medium:Deep £18.50.jpg

Benefit Gimme Brow Gel in Medium/Deep £18.50

Since I have the luxury of time, I like to set my brows using the brow gel from Benefit. This gel really holds the eyebrow shape and prolongs the longevity of the powder. However, I heard there are some great dupes in the drugstore for this. I might try them out when I run out of this one.

Pony Memebox Eyeshadow Palette in Pony Shine Easy Glam 2 .jpg

Pony Memebox Eyeshadow Palette in Pony Shine Easy Glam 2

Now onto my favorite step of the makeup process! This palette has 7 shimmery shades with 1 matte brown colour. Since it’s my first time using this palette, I actually watched Pony’s tutorial and followed how she uses the shades. You can find the tutorial here on I’m MeMe YouTube channel: https://goo.gl/uMGQdA

Tony Moly Gel Eyeliner in Pearl Brown .jpg

Tony Moly Gel Eyeliner in Pearl Brown

This gel eyeliner is one of my holy grail eye products of all time. Similar to the Saem concealer, I have used this for years and will continue to repurchase forever! It does come with a eyeliner in the packaging, which is super convenient for on-the-go. However, I prefer to use an angled eyeliner brush to draw a thin line across my top lash line, starting from the middle. I slightly wing the eyeliner out to create a small cat eye. This eyeliner is super soft and pigmented. I highly recommend it for beginners as I find it to be easier than any pencil or pen eyeliner I have ever tried. Some may even say it is a dupe for the higher end Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner.

Chanel Inimitable Extreme Mascara £25.jpg

Chanel Inimitable Extreme Mascara £25

After curling my lashes using the Shu Uemura curlers, I apply 2 coats of mascara. This Chanel one is good at giving defined and separated lashes with some added volume. However, I think you can find ones that perform similar or even better than this luxury brand in the drug store. I do like this mascara, but I’m not too sure if I will repurchase after this dries out.

Pony Effect That Girl Luminous Contouring Palette 1.jpg Pony Effect That Girl Luminous Contouring Palette.jpg

Pony Effect That Girl Luminous Contouring Palette

To be honest, I am usually too lazy to contour and bronze my face. Especially since I’m Asian, I prefer paler skin tones as to the healthy tan tones which most Western ladies like. However, I will slightly define the hollows of my cheekbones using the shade Behind Story. I will then use Divine Work to contour the sides of my face to make it appear slimmer to achieve that V-line shape most Asian girls like.

Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Blusher in Ecstasy £30.jpg

Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Blusher in Ecstasy £30

To add a touch of colour on the cheeks, I use this blusher from Charlotte Tilbury. Can we just take a moment to appreciate the rose gold packaging of all Charlotte’s products? This is also one of the most expensive blushes I own and so, I like to save it for special occasions. Following Charlotte’s tutorials, I swirl my brush around the outer ring, then dap softly in the pop shade in the middle. This blush has amazing lasting time and is such a mature colour, perfect for Valentines Day.

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne Pop £32.jpg

Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Champagne Pop £32

Yes – I finally tried the favorite product of so many YouTubers and Bloggers! I was super excited when I finally got my hands on this since everyone seemed to be talking about it in their yearly favorites. As expected, this highlighter is absolutely beautiful. I use a fan brush to lightly swipe this onto the high points of my cheeks. I then use a small pointed eye shadow brush to dab into the inner corners of my eyes. This highlighter is the perfect mixture between a white and gold colour. I’m so glad they decided to make this shade permanent!

Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk £16.jpg

Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk £16

This was very much a YouTube Guru enabled purchase. My favourite British Youtuber Amelia Liana (https://goo.gl/BTxg18) had talked about this lip liner in about every other video since 2014. I don’t usually use lip liners simply because I’m lazy but this liner is so smooth and easy to apply. It takes less than 1 minute to line and the colour is just the perfect nude. I save this liner for times when I really want my lip colour to last long and it pairs perfectly as a base for any lippie I wear.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipstick in Amazing Grace £23

Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick in Coachella Coral £23

Finally, for lips I could not choose between two shades, both from Charlotte Tilbury. Amazing Grace is an amazing matte formula, which doesn’t dry out my lips like most matte colours do. But – Coachella Coral is such a cute bright pink-ish coral colour…I guess I will just have to ask the boyfriend which one he likes more on the day (hehe)!

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray £22.jpg

Urban Decay All Nighter Makeup Setting Spray £22

Whew! That was a long one wasn’t it? I think this is the most makeup I have worn since Christmas! Of course to make sure all this hard work stays in place all day, I must set it with my favorite from Urban Decay. It really is just like its name says – it stays ‘all night’.

Wishing everyone, single or not, to have a great Valentines Day with your friends or significant other!
